Around the Globe

Every week I will post information about a country in the world and different ways you can be praying for them. God's vision is nothing less than spectacular. God's vision is for the nations. We need that vision. We need that awe. When you think about God: think bigger, pray bigger, and walk in wonder.

"Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him" (Psalm 33:8)

                  Syria
                (Asia)
Syria has been all over the news lately as violence and conflict continue to flare up. Syria is one with a rich history in Christianity, that has all but been forgotten.
The question seems to be: Can Christians survive in Syria?

A country of over 20 million inhabitants, where Paul was converted on his way to Damascus, now is dominated by the Islam faith at 90% of the population.

Prayer
i.) Syria's role in the Middle East - lasting peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without Syrian participation in any solution. Pray that God might somehow use this nation to bring peace to the war torn area.
ii.) Changes with the country - Syria is possibly headed toward a dangerous future. Pray for God to use the uncertainty in the country to draw people to seek the truth and hope of the gospel more urgently.
iii.) The Protestant presence is small - There is an evangelical presence in most cities, but rarely in small towns. Growth can only occur through better training of the Syrian evangelical leaders. Pray that all Christians might gain a deep desire to grow in godliness and outreach.
